World Vision is rushing emergency aid to survivors of the devastating 8.0 earthquake that struck Peru Wednesday evening.
As a sponsor of a child from Peru, we want to inform you that all of World Vision's staff and sponsored children are safe as of Thursday morning. The disaster took place in an area where there are no World Vision sponsorship projects. However, more than 500 are confirmed dead, and thousands have lost their homes. Your help is desperately needed today.
"The greatest needs right now are for blankets and warm clothing," said Yadira Pacheco, a World Vision staff member in Peru. "It is winter season here ... hospitals are at capacity. It is important that people get medical supplies."
World Vision is rushing Family Survival Kits into the region, which contain item like food, water, and cooking equipment. Because it is winter right now in Peru, children and families will also desperately need blankets and warm clothing to survive. Survivors in Peru urgently need your help and prayer. Please give today.
Please note: If a sponsored child is directly affected by a crisis or disaster, it is World Vision's policy to notify that child's sponsor as soon as possible. At the present time, no sponsored children have been injured, and relief operations are in effect.
Thank you, and God bless you for your faithful support in times of need.
